Night this past Wednesday. It was so fun to see the kiddos show off their hard
work!
Our Thinkery field trip will be this Thursday, May 9 from
11:30-1:00. We will leave school around 10:30. We will leave at 1:00 to come
back to school. Here are some reminders:
1.
Please pack your child a lunch on this
day. We will not eat in the cafeteria.
We will eat in the classroom.
2.
Please make sure your child is wearing
tennis shoes.
3.
Please have your child wear a caraway
shirt if they have one.
4.
Please talk with your child beforehand
about the importance of good behavior & safe choices while on the field
trip.
We have filled all of the chaperone spots for our field trip to
the Thinkery. Thank you to those of you who volunteered! If you still want to
join us, you are welcome to meet us there around 11:15, but you will need to
pay the adult admission fee.

This week in Reading Workshop…
We will continue perfecting our craft. In this unit we will be revisiting fiction
books. We will use these fiction books to practice all of the comprehension
strategies we have learned over the course of the year.
This week in Writing Workshop…
We will begin perfecting our craft. In this unit we will be revisiting small
moment stories. Students will also have the option to write fiction stories
with a beginning, middle and end. We will use these small moment and fiction
stories to practice all of the writing strategies we have learned over the
course of the year, as well as the writing process.
This week in Math Workshop…
We will be learning about money. In 1st Grade, students
have to know the name of the coin and it’s value. They do not have to know how to count money
until 2nd Grade.
This week in Science…
We will begin learning about plants. We will learn about the parts
of a seed, what plants need to grow and the plant life cycle.
This week in Social Studies…
We will wrap up our unit on inventors. We will begin thinking about the inventions
we learned about. We will think about how they have changed over time, and how
our lives have been impacted by them.
Our Life Skill of the week is Being
Proactive!
