Homework Bags will not be sent home any more
this year. I have to inventory all of my
classroom and district books. If you
still have any of the books that I sent home, please send them back as soon as
possible! I will still email a homework
menu, but it is completely optional.
Please have your child read every night for 20 minutes.
KnOWLedge Night is coming up soon. On the evening of May 18th we will be hosting a Reading Restaurant. We will have a reservation time for you and your child to come and participate. The reservation times will be sent closer to May 18th. We are excited to share our love or reading and our portfolios with our families!
Field Day will be Friday, May 19th! We will be outside from 10:00am-12:00am. Please apply sunscreen at home. Plan to send your child in clothes that they can get wet in. They will need tennis shoes, socks, play clothes, water bottle labeled with their name, a towel and and extra set of clothes (including underwear) socks and shoes (they can be something other than tennis shoes). We will have a picnic lunch at12:30pm that day.
Our Classroom Play Date will be Wednesday, May 31. Your kiddo is welcome to bring a board game, special coloring books, card games, etc… No electronic devices please. We will play that morning, and then watch a movie in the afternoon. This day has always been a big hit in the past!

End of the Year Party: Awards and Talent Show 8:30-10:30 am, Thursday, June 1st. This year we will have our End of the Year Awards
ceremony in our classroom. It will be followed by a brunch reception and our class
Talent Show. Your children have thought of ideas for their performance. We will have a little time to
practice at school, but, please talk with your child about their choice and encourage
them to practice at home!
This week in Reading Workshop...
We will be using all of the strategies we have learned while reading during our Book Clubs. Last week we started book clubs and we practiced reading with our friends. This week we will focus on one strategy a day and record our thinking in our Reader's Response Notebook.
This week in Writing Workshop...
We will be focusing on using the Writing Process as we wrap up our Family Writing and create stories. Our writers have grown so much this year. We can't wait to share all of our progress with you at KnOWLedge Night!
This week in Math...
We will be practicing comparison subtraction. Comparison subtract deals with two quantities and you have to find out how much more one is than another. We will apply our math strategies to problem solving. We will solve a variety of problems to practice these strategies.
This week in Science...
We will wrap up our learning on Plants. We will discuss the function of plant parts and why they help our environment. We will learn about the interdependence of plants and animals in our community.
Have a great
week!
