The flowers were beautiful! The cards were heartwarming! The treats were

Night is coming up soon. On the
evening of May 18th we will be
hosting a Reading Restaurant. The reservation times will be sent closer to May 18th. We are
excited to share our love or reading and our portfolios with our families!
Field
Day
will be Friday, May 19th! We will be outside from 10:00am-12:00am. Please apply sunscreen at home. Plan to send your
child in clothes that they can get wet in. They will
need tennis shoes, socks, play clothes, water bottle labeled with their name, a
towel and and extra set of clothes (including underwear) socks and shoes (they
can be something other than tennis shoes). We will have
a picnic lunch at 12:30pm that day.
We will have
a Class
Play Date in the classroom on Wednesday, May 31. This is a day when your child can bring 1
game (that will fit in their back pack) from home. The summer is fast approaching and many
kiddos will not see any of their classmates until August 22nd. We will have a morning of play and camaraderie. Please do not send electronic devices. In the years past, kiddos have brought games
like connect 4, Candyland, and Hungry, Hungry Hippos (just to name a few).
End
of the Year Party: 8:30am-10:20am on Thursday, June 1.
This year we
will have our End of the Year Awards ceremony in our classroom. It will be followed by a breakfast reception and
our Talent Show. Your
children have thought of ideas for their performance. We will have time to practice at school. Please talk with them about their choice and
encourage them to practice at home!
This
week in Reading Workshop...
We
will continue reviewing our reading comprehension strategies. We will focus on making connections. We've been discussing our read aloud The Land of
Stories The Enchantress Returns as we use our reading strategies.
This
week in Writing...
We
will be working on various projects to prepare our portfolios for KnOWLedge
Night. We can wait
to share our work with you!
This
week in Math...
We
will continue our unit on inequality and comparison subtraction. We worked really hard last week thinking about
how to make amounts equal and create equations that are balanced. Check out our work on Google Classroom from last
week!
This
week in Science...
We
will continue our study of Plants. We will
learn about the parts of a plant and the functions of those parts. We will also plant a seed and watch it sprout
and grow!
Have
